The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a potentially hazardous situation with a tanker accident near the Finley-Sharon school was avoided.
Shortly before 5 pm Thursday, a tanker carrying level two flammable propane fell off a tractor trailer in Finley, ND. The Highway Patrol, Finley Fire Department, and the Steele County Sheriff's Department responded.
The truck was driving north on highway 32 and had just turned onto highway 200 headed to Grand Forks. The patrol says it was only going three miles per hour.
It happened near downtown close to the Finley-Sharon School and the Finley Lutheran Church.
Even though it wasn't leaking, officials on the scene took precaution.
"With the northwest wind, I think originally they had started to evacuate some people and assess the damage to the tank. With the wind and the school nearby that's a precaution they took right away," Jon Skalicky with the ND Highway Patrol said.
No one was hurt in the accident.
