Winnipeg Stadium Price Increases

The price tag on the new stadium for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers has ballooned to more than 160 million dollars -- about 45 million above original projections.

The new figure was presented earlier this week to stakeholders in the deal to build the 33-thousand-seat stadium at the University of Manitoba.

The CBC is reporting that Winnipeg Football Club board chairman Bill Watchorn has confirmed the higher figure provided by sources.

Creswin Properties -- Winnipeg businessman David Asper's development business -- is the company charged with building the new stadium.

The Manitoba government has agreed to provide Creswin with 90 million dollars in bridge financing to help get it built.
