MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — A south Minneapolis church leader is accused of fondling a 13-year-old girl who belongs to his church.

Forty-three-year-old Ruben Ramirez-Toxtle is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a minor over whom he has authority.

The prosecutor says Ramirez-Toxtle teaches Sunday school and runs programs for seniors at the Iglesia Centro Cristiano de Minneapolis.

According to the complaint, the 13-year-old's mother noticed phone calls and text messages from Ramirez-Toxtle on her daughter's cell phone.

The Star Tribune reports the complaint says Ramirez-Toxtle told the girl he was "falling in love with her."

Ramirez-Toxtle remains in Hennepin County Jail. The defendant's brother, Joel Ramirez, says his brother is a church volunteer.
