UNDATED (AP) - Economic stress continues to be lightest in the Dakotas.
The Associated Press' monthly analysis of conditions around the country finds that North Dakota remains the economically healthiest state, followed by South Dakota. Nevada had the worst stress score.
The four least-stressed counties were in the Dakotas: North Dakota's Ward and Burleigh followed by South Dakota's Brown and Brookings.
Overall, the nation's economic stress fell in September to a 16-month low, thanks to more hiring in New England, fewer foreclosures in the mid-Atlantic and declining bankruptcy filings in the Southeast.
