BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — The new U.S. attorney for North Dakota is to be formally sworn in Friday.

The ceremony for Timothy Purdon is set for 3 p.m. at the federal courthouse in Bismarck. Senior U.S. District Judge Pat Conmy will preside.

President Barack Obama appointed Purdon to the job. The U.S. Senate in August confirmed the former Democratic national committeeman. He succeeds Republican Drew Wrigley as North Dakota's top federal prosecutor.
