Some ladies in the Northern Valley are celebrating hunting season in a crafty way.
"Quilting Season" has one woman traveling quite a long way for the love of sewing.
With each stitch...
"I've learned a few new patterns." quilter Susan Houle said.
a quilter is inspired...
"I was considered a beginner but now I'm moving up, now that I've been to a real quilt retreat for the weekend."
Susan Houle traveled all the way from Phoenix, Arizona to the Quilters retreat in Park River. A chance to visit a friend and do a little sewing.
"I like the creativity and love inventing so I actually designed the quilt I'm sewing for my brother." Houle said.
The 3-day event gives quilters a chance to have a little fun, learn new things from each other and get those last minute projects done.
"It's the exchanging of ideas. You get so many tips on sewing, you always have the experts around us who have sewn for a long time to help." quilter and organizer Janice Meagher said.
Whether an expert or a beginner, the love of sewing brings them back together year after year.
"Even if they have different skills, they all share with one another and help me get together a little more complex pattern than I've done before." Houle said.
"The men are out hunting, the women come to sew. So we just dress in orange and have fun." Meagher said.
This is the 13th year of the event with more than 40 quilters involved.
