FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A group has formed to fight tax increases during the North Dakota Legislature next year.
The North Dakota Consumer and Business Network put petitions in convenience stores across the state about two weeks ago. Spokesman Mike Rud tells The Forum that the group already has collected a couple thousand signatures.
Group members include Rud's Petroleum Marketers Association, the North Dakota Taxpayers Association, Hospitality Association, Grocer's Association, Coin and Tavern Association, Policy Council and wholesale distributors.
One of the group's targets is a proposal by the Fargo-based Smoke-free Air for Everyone Coalition to increase the tax on cigarettes.
