ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (AP) — A free-speech debate has broken out at a Twin Cities parochial school over a couple of student editorials on gay issues.

Last week the student newspaper at Benilde-St. Margaret's in St. Louis Park ran an editorial criticizing a DVD by Minnesota's Catholic bishops that denounced same-sex marriage. And the paper's editor wrote an op-ed piece about his life as a gay teenager.

The resulting uproar prompted the paper to delete the two editorials as well as online comments about them.

According to Minnesota Public Radio News, principal Sue Skinner says the intense debate was creating "an unsafe environment for students."
