Fergus Falls, Minn. (WDAY TV) - Another round in court for the Battle Lake man accused of slitting his dog's throat last summer.
24-year-old Benjamin Stavaas appeared in Otter Tail County Court for a motions hearing. Stavaas is charged with 6-counts of animal cruelty after allegedly cutting the throat of his German shepherd mix, and leaving her to die. The dog survived.
Stavaas's attorney filed a motion to contest some of the charges. Stavaas has not entered a plea and remains in jail. His next court date has not yet been scheduled.
