Kara Pappas-Guy had to submit a tape telling judges why she deserved to win college tuition.

It's all part of the Dr. Pepper Million Dollar Tuition Giveaway.

Kara explained to the judges that while growing up..she lived in and out of motels, she's the first person in her family to go to college, and she became a mother at a very young age.

She'll be competing in the contest on December 4th during the college football Big 12 Championship game.

Finalists will throw 10 footballs from five yards away into a two-foot hole in an over sized Dr. Pepper can replica.

The person who completes the most throws in 30-seconds will win the grand prize scholarship of more than 1-hundred thousand dollars.

"If I do win the money it'll help me pay my school off completely and then I can give Lilly a stable household because I never had that," said Pappas-Guy.

The runner-up will receive a 23-thousand dollar tuition prize and the three alternates will get $5000.
