An engineering firm is recommending a $4.5 million fix for Jamestown's sewer system.

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (AP) — An engineering firm is recommending a $4.5 million fix for Jamestown's sewer system.

The city ran into problems with its sanitary sewer system during spring flooding in 2009. The recommendation by Ulteig Engineering is aimed at getting Jamestown through another flood.

Engineer Mike Berg says the problems center around old or inferior infrastructure. He says it's too expensive to fix all at once, but the recommended repairs should give the system the capacity to withstand another flood.

The Jamestown Sun reports that the proposal eventually will go before the City Council.
