Owen and Debbie Dahl, who watched as their home was destroyed by a tornado, are enjoying their first Thanksgiving dinner in their new home.
The smell of turkey and mashed potatoes filled the home of Owen and Debbie Dahl. It's the first time their new home has hosted a Thanksgiving dinner.
"It's been a lot of firsts," said Owen Dahl who lost his home.
On June 17th, an F-4 tornado destroyed everything on their farmstead only leaving Owen's welding business. But this Thanksgiving, the Dahl family is giving thanks.
"Everyday we are so thankful the way it all turned out. Even as the tornado was going through we were thankful for where we were at," said Dahl.
Dahl said they placed their new home right on top of the old foundation and in three long months they were back in their own home.
"Debbie actually finds this house a little bit easier to take care of than the last house we made it a little bit more user friendly," said Dahl.
Now the Dahl family is now placing their new memories on their walls.
"We are gradually getting some pictures back up most of the ones that went through the tornado were absolutely ruined so thankfully there were some computers here and there around," said Dahl.
Dahl says everything was covered by insurance and the money raised by friends and family went to new trees and grass.
