FARGO, N.D. (AP) - North Dakota's largest city is considering regulating drink specials offered by bars.
Fargo's Liquor Control Board started discussing the matter earlier this month, when Police Chief Keith Ternes said there were no city ordinances allowing the regulation of bar specials such as free drinks for women on ladies' night and free 40-ounce birthday drinks.
The Forum reports that some in the bar and restaurant industry say the promotions are not a problem. Businessman Randy Thorson says there's a state law that ensures bars can't over-serve a customer at any price.
The Liquor Control Board plans more discussion at its Dec. 15 meeting.
