A former Thief River Falls police officer who violated his probation when he stole silver dollar coins while on work release will be back in court next week.
Paul Kezar will be in court December 6th and 7th in Pennington and Marshall counties.
Prosecutors filed a new misdemeanor theft charge against Paul Kezar on November 9th. Court documents show Kezar stole four rolls of silver dollar coins from a business he was working at while on work release from jail. When Kezar tried to cash the coins at a local bank, they called police who discovered the coins had been stolen from the business.
Kezar pled guilty to the misdemeanor and will spend an additional 90 days in jail.
Kezar was already serving jail time for four counts of receiving stolen property: two counts in Pennington County and two counts in Marshall County. He was sentenced to a year in jail on those charges.
The charges stem from a 2009 investigation that showed a stolen lawnmower had been purchased from Kezar.
