The petition for a recall vote for the Walsh County Sheriff seat has received all the signatures they needed.

As of Thursday morning, the group received 1,238 signatures, according to petition supporters.

The petition was started after Sheriff Lauren Wild fired former Deputy Ron Nord after Nord lost to Wild in the November election.

Sheriff Wild said he fired Nord because of the lies he spread about him in his campaign for Sheriff and he could no longer be trusted. Nord disputes the allegations.

WDAZ attempted to call the petitioners on when they would turn in the signatures, but our calls were not immediately returned.

The Walsh County auditor has 30 days to verify the signatures on the petition. After verification, Walsh County has 100 days to set up a special election.

Supporters of the recall petition plan to submit the signatures by Wednesday, December 8th.
