The Minnesota Legislature will be cutting somewhat less money from its 2011 budget than this year.
East Grand Forks City Administrator Scott Huizenga (Hue-zen-gay) says that the Minnesota Legislature will have to cut 5.8 billion dollars from its budget in 2011. In 2012 it will have to cut 6.2 billion dollars.
Huizenga says that both years will offset each other so there will be no big change in the way East Grand Forks prepares their budget. For cities like East Grand Forks this is good news.
"Relatively good news for cities in that were not expecting to see anymore un-allotments to local government aid in the current biennium," said Scott Huizenga the City Administrator for East Grand Forks.
On Tuesday, the East Grand Forks City Council will vote on its 2011 budget. It includes a 4.4 percent levy increase in property taxes.
