The Walsh County Sheriff recall petition is expected to be turned in on Thursday.

Recall petitioners are turning in their 1,236 signatures needed to enact a recall vote for the Walsh County sheriff seat.

The Walsh County Auditor now has 30 days to verify every signature turned in.

After those 30 days, Walsh County has up to 100 days to host a special election for Walsh County seat.

The petition effort started when current sheriff Lauren Wild fired former Deputy Ron Nord the day after the November election.

Nord ran against Wild for Sheriff.

Wild said he fired Nord because of lies he spread about him during the election and because he could no longer be trusted.
