GF City Council Debates Library Vote

The Grand Forks City Council is debating when to schedule a vote on a sales tax for a new Library. Library supporters are pushing for an April vote, but council member Christensen says there should be more time.

The Grand Forks City Council is debating when to schedule a vote on a sales tax for a new Library.

The library board wants the vote to happen in April so it would coincide with National Library Week. City Council member Doug Christensen says that's way too soon. He says it won't leave enough time to get information out to the voting public.

Council Member Tyrone Grandstrand says they need to pick a date soon so voters can be prepared.

"I think we need to pick a date pretty quickly and decide when we're going to have the vote. I think the public deserves to make their opinion heard on this law with the library," said Tyrone Grandstrand a City Council Member.

The Council will discuss the vote again at its December 13th meeting, when it receives the results of the Speak Up For your Library campaign.
