The North Dakota Department of Transportation is challenging student to wear their seatbelts and not texting and driving. Student Leaders at Valley Middle School showed their support for safe driving.

The North Dakota DOT is offering a Traffic safety Contest. Students are asked to create a 30 second video or billboard to win a thousand dollars for them and their school.

A Hatton, ND Father told his story about his daughter not wearing her seatbelt.

"These students are taking an active role in this process. It is important to drop these statistics, make these kids know that seatbelts do save live," said Kyle Skovlund, who's daughter died in an accident and she not wearing her seatbelt.

The Contest is open to any student ages 14 to 19. Students have to sign up by February 11th on the North Dakota Teen Drivers Website.
