A missing Crookston man was found dead Monday afternoon in Alvarado, MN, according to the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
Sheriff John Novacek says a neighbor found the body of Roy Gustofson, 50, at 3:20 pm.
Novacek says the neighbor thought Gustofson's body was a crumpled up trash bag.
Gustofson had been missing since Friday, December 10th.
Sheriff Novacek says Gustofson had been out with friends that night.
"We have reason to believe he had been drinking that evening. We don't know if that was a factor of him not thinking right, whether he wanted to walk up town or some place else," Novacek said.
According to Novacek, the three men went back to a trailer park on the west side of Alvarado because one of the men forgot his keys. Gustofson waited inside a car, outside the home.
"The two friends he was with went inside the house and when they came back out he had left the vehicle. They didn't know where he had gone off to," said Novacek.
Novacek says it does not appear there was any crime associated with Gustofson's death.
To be sure, his body has been sent to Grand Forks for an autopsy.
