VALLEY CITY, N.D. (AP) — A hearing to show just cause for the termination of Valley Police Dean Ross has been delayed.

Ross was set to face charges of misconduct at a city administrative hearing on Sept. 19.

But KOVC reports that a judge has ordered the city to refrain from proceedings until an Oct. 21 hearing.

City Attorney Russ Myhre says the order will allow the city more time to prepare its case.

Ross was suspended without pay on Friday.

Ross was put on paid leave this summer while authorities investigate whether he mismanaged and misspent public money. Ross maintains he has done nothing wrong.

Detective Mark McDonald has been named interim police chief.
