The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory effective 4 am Wednesday to 6 am Thursday. Towns included in the advisory are Cando, Langdon, Maddock, Leeds, Devils Lake, New Rockford, Lakota, Cooperstown, Valley City, Adams and surrounding areas.

A band of snow will develop overnight Tuesday and will move over the Devils Lake basin Wednesday morning. Light to moderate snow is expected to fall throughout the day and into Thursday morning.

The Weather Service says accumulations of 3 to 5 inches are possible, with isolated areas of 6 inches. Winds aren't expected to be an issue with the system, though.

A winter weather advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow-covered roads and limited visibilities. As always, use caution while driving.
