Through a generous donation, the Grand Forks Salvation Army has a golden opportunity to boost their Red Kettle drive.
The little gold coin worth $1,465, was dropped in one of the kettles.
Major Harold Baugh found this South African Krugerand inside the kettle at Home of Economy Saturday morning.
It is another donation the Salvation Army can add to their funds helping local families have a better Christmas.
A very big find for the Salvation Army, but Baugh says it is all the same when it comes to giving.
"We really appreciate the person who had us in mind when they dropped that coin in, but we really appreciate those quarters as well," said Baugh.
Still, the coin is a big boost towards the Army's $100,000 goal for their Kettle Drive this Christmas.
“A big thank you to the kindhearted person who gave us this coin. With Christmas just five days away, we still need to raise another $24,000 to reach our goal,” Baugh said.
Donations to the Grand Forks Salvation Army help provide food, clothing, shelter and other emergency to thousands of local residents in need.
