HETTINGER, N.D. (AP) — Trial for a man accused of pulling a pistol in a southwestern North Dakota courtroom is being moved across the state to Cass County.

KXMB-TV reports (http://bit.ly/ngabXv ) that Judge Steven McCullough granted the motion to move Vicente Chacano's trial on 14 counts of attempted murder. Defense attorney Robert Quick had made the request, saying it would be difficult to find impartial jurors in Adams County.

A trial date was not immediately set.

Authorities say Chacano pulled a gun after being convicted of molesting a girl and tried to shoot jurors, a sheriff and a prosecutor in February. They say the 9 mm semi-automatic handgun did not fire, and the sheriff and prosecutor were able to subdue Chacano.

Chacano is serving 40 years in prison on the molestation conviction. He's appealing.
