Business As Usual at Pawn Shops; Owners say Wait Until After the Holidays

If you want to buy that special gift, but don't have the money, you might find yourself at a pawn shop trying to get some extra cash. However, some pawn shops aren't seeing as many customers as you might think.

If you want to buy that special gift..but don't have the money, you might find yourself at a pawn shop trying to get some extra cash.

However, some pawn shops aren't seeing as many customers as you might think.

Beavers Pawn Shop has people coming and going all the time, but Christmas isn't their busiest time of year.

Roger Beaver owns the pawn shop and he says its business as usual during the holiday.

They start to see increased traffic when Christmas is over and people start receiving their credit card bills.

Many people realize they didn't budget for the essentials after the season so they're looking for ways to make quick money.

But even though Beavers Pawn Shop isn't busy, that doesn't mean others in North Dakota aren't.

"I just visited with my brother in Rolette and he said it's been extremely busy, but that's the nature of his direction that it goes," says Beaver.

Beaver says the people who choose to work in the Lake Region are lucky enough to have jobs because the economy is good.

But he takes almost anything people bring in.

One of the weirdest things Roger has ever had brought to his door is a horse.
