A motions hearing has been set for a Pembina man accused of murdering a Walhalla teenager in October.

24-year-old Miguel Medina-Romero was in Pembina County Court Monday.

Authorities say Romero shot and killed 19-year-old Bryon Kalis outside a Pembina home.

Romero's roommate says he heard several shots fired outside his home.

Sheriff Brian Erovick says the 911 call came from Romero claiming he shot an intruder in his home and was claiming self-defense.

According to Romero's roommate, the shooting didn't happen because Kalis was trying to get into the house, but says it was a fight over jewelry.

Romero will be back in court April 11th.
