A Minnesota woman wants the children of locked-out American Crystal Sugar workers to have a cheerful Christmas. April Richards from Georgetown is heading a charity called Christmas for Crystal Kids. She started it on Facebook. Richards says more than 1,300 children in the valley are affected by their parent's lock-out. She says she was looking for some way to help the community when she realized how many parents may not be able to afford their children Christmas presents.
April Richards – Christmas for Crystal Kids: "They are still going to be financially strapped, just because of the length of this lockout. They are going to have bills to pay, vehicles to fix and those things are going to come before Christmas presents."
Richards has an account at State Bank and Trust in Moorhead under "Christmas for Crystal Kids."
