The New Year's baby at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks will have quite a story to tell when he grows up. Carson Langstraat of Hatton arrived almost five weeks early. Manny and Alysha Langstraat of Hatton are Carson's proud new parents.

I-29 was closed because of the blizzard, and Carson's parents had to use back roads to get from Hatton to Grand Forks to the hospital for his delivery. They thought ahead and drove up Friday to give themselves plenty of time to navigate icy country roads. Carson was born at 10:29am January 1, 2011. Mother and baby are doing well.
