Halloween is barely over, but area businesses are already looking forward to Christmas.

Despite the national recession, area businesses say they're optimistic about the holiday shopping season.

In fact, many stores already have Christmas decorations on the shelves.

Boggy: The ghosts and witches are quickly being replaced with Santa Claus and snowmen as area businesses prepare for the holiday season.

Tina Miller: "We just set last night but there's a couple guests shopping it already."

Boggy: Along with Target, Columbia mall has also set up their decorations but a lot of people believe that the decor is going up to soon.

Carol Lamberson: "I'm have a hard time getting over Halloween just transition into Christmas, it's a little overwhelming."

Boggy: With Christmas still two months away, Target is already in the holiday spirit and anticipating good sales this season.

Tina Miller: "We're really looking forward to our fourth quarter and the day after Thanksgiving is our biggest day of the year so we're anticipating great sales with the special promotions we have going on that day."

Boggy: And Thanksgiving seems to be the day everyone is focusing on now, saying that it won't be until after that, that they even think about Christmas.

Megan Nelson:"I think it's crazy, Thanksgiving isn't even here yet and I don't know, I'm really looking forward to Christmas though."

Samantha Simon: "Thanksgiving should be that one day where everything starts going up afterward."
