Helicopter Pilot Killed in Minnesota Lake Crash IDed

HACKENSACK, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a helicopter pilot killed when his chopper crashed into Ten Mile Lake in northern Minnesota's Cass County.

HACKENSACK, Minn. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of a helicopter pilot killed when his chopper crashed into Ten Mile Lake in northern Minnesota's Cass County.

Sheriff Tom Burch identifies the pilot as 56-year-old John Zacher of Hackensack.

Zacher's body was recovered Friday outside the helicopter about 150 feet from shore, in about 30 feet of water. An autopsy is pending.

A passenger in the helicopter, 55-year-old Vicki Zacher, was able to swim to shore and call 911 Thursday night. She was treated for hyperthermia.

The crash remains under investigation by the Cass County sheriff's office and the Federal Aviation Administration.
