Though our above average snowfall is a pain on the roads, it has made for nice trails for area snowmobilers.
The East Grand Forks Police Department said snowmobilers in the East Grand Forks / Grand Forks areas need to remember a few things.
Police Chief Mike Hedlund said driving on East Grand Forks city streets is legal, as long as you keep your speeds down to ten miles per hour.
According to Hedlund you should also stay off the Red and Red Lake Rivers.
"We really want to remind them they just are not safe. Rivers, because of the currents, their ice conditions are constantly changing. An area that might be safe today, might not be safe tomorrow," said Hedlund.
According to Hedlund driving on city streets in Grand Forks is not permitted.
