A Grand Forks tradition is paving the way for politicians to continue campaigning.

People in Grand Forks can get ideas on new ways to deck their halls at the Holiday Home Tour. Homes are decorated for the season from table settings to Christmas trees.

Margaret Fish - Bake Sale Co-Manager: “I think everybody gets excited. They get excited at looking at the homes because they're always different. They're always bigger and newer and it's just fantastic to go see them.”

Decorations for the homes were provided by places like Bemidji and Pier 1, and many of them were also available for purchase.

Rebekah Seeger - Homeowner: “They're gorgeous. They're beautiful, and each one is unique in its own self and you can see little bits of the family come through. Also, the decorators did an amazing job.”

The tour has happened every two years for more than 20 years. It costs $25, and that money pays for Republicans running for state offices.

Shane Goettle - Candidate for U.S. Congress: “I think it's a great community event because people are interacting and getting acquainted with other people, and I'm meeting lots of new people here so it's very fun.”

Viewers and homeowners alike appreciate getting into the holiday spirit.

Rebekah Seeger - Homeowner: “I thought it would be really interesting to have someone else come in who is an expert at decorating and design and see what they could add to the home it's really inspiring to think that for future times, Christmases and holidays and stuff, remember what they did and what I can implement to the home.”
