It's a new year and for some people in the Northern Valley, that means a new car.
A sales manager at one local dealership says they have been seeing more business this winter.
"We're ranked 8th in the nation out of over 5,000 GM dealerships. We've had other dealerships calling us, congratulating us. It's pretty good for North Dakota," said Rydell General Sales Manager, Brian McCulley.
Keeping their lots full has been a bit of a challenge.
"We were selling so many, we've been getting extra inventory. They want us to have vehicles to sell to the customers," said McCulley.
"I trade about every five years or so and I was ready for a new vehicle," said Terry Anderson, who recently purchased a 2011 Silverado truck.
Anderson said his new truck, along with purchases made by his friends are steps in a good direction.
"Between the farm economy, which is exceptional, and what local businesses are doing. The energy sector out west is propping up the state too. North Dakota is doing well," Anderson said.
With above average snowfall this weather, a new truck is not a bad idea.
"I drove my wife to work. The four-wheel drive works well," said Anderson.
McCulley said he has noticed a boost in sales this year compared to last year. A trend he hopes will continue.
"We're very excited. It has been our best year in 56 years!"
