Two Injured in Four-Vehicle Accident in South Grand Forks

Two men were hurt in an accident involving four vehicles in south Grand Forks Friday afternoon. 25-year-old Jose Penzort, Grand Forks, and 23-year-old Paul Billings, also from Grand Forks were injured in the accident and taken to Altru hospital.

Two men were hurt in an accident involving four vehicles in south Grand Forks Friday afternoon.

25-year-old Jose Penzort, Grand Forks, and 23-year-old Paul Billings, also from Grand Forks were injured in the accident and taken to Altru hospital. Penzort was a passenger in Billings' Mercury Sable. Their condition is unknown as of Friday evening.

Shortly after 1 p.m., officers responded to the accident at the intersection of 32nd Avenue S. and S. 31st Street. Police say Billings was attempting to make a turn onto S. 31st street and failed to yield at the intersection and was struck by a Dodge Magnum pick-up driven by Robert Longtine, 66, of Grafton.

Police say Billings' car then struck a 2002 Ford Taurus driven by Darlene Schroeder, 61, of East Grand Forks. Schroeder's vehicle then hit a 2005 Chevy Impala, driven by Roberta Messelt, 66, of East Grand Forks.

Officers cited Billings for driving under suspension and failure to yield.

Both the Mercury Sable and Dodge Magnum had to be towed from the scene due to extensive damage.
