The North Dakota Legislature is picking up speed in Week 2, with a variety of bills that could affect you. On Monday and Tuesday, lawmakers will discuss an education bill that includes property tax relief.

Senate Bill 2013 would take nearly $342 million from the property tax relief sustainability fund and provide mill levy reduction grants to school districts. Also Monday, lawmakers will hear several workers compensation bills, including a proposal to evaluate Workforce Safety and Insurance less often.

Workers may want to pay attention Wednesday to a bill regarding paid time off. If you voluntarily leave your job, Senate Bill 2138 says your boss can withhold payment of accrued paid time off if you've worked there less than two years and gave less than 10 days notice.

On Thursday, lawmakers will tackle flood control and discuss Senate Bill 2054 to authorize construction of a Devils Lake east end flood control structure.

It's a full week ahead here in Bismarck and it will just get busier. You can keep up with what Teri's doing throughout the week by going to her blog at NorthDakota.areavoices.com.
