A California man accused of killing and decapitating a Cooperstown man will be held without bail.

30-year-old Daniel Wacht was in Stutsman County court for a bond hearing Monday.

He is facing murder charges.

Authorities believe Wacht shot 54-year-old Kurt Johnson in the forehead and then decapitated him.

The Griggs County Sheriff's Office says Johnson was last seen with Wacht on December 31st outside of the Oasis bar in downtown Cooperstown.

A witness says Wacht was seen pushing Johnson into the cargo area of a burgundy van.

Johnson's head was found in Wacht's basement.

They are still looking for Johnson's body.
