Grand Forks, ND (WDAY TV) -- Everyone in the community was invited to the 39th annual community supper at St. Michaels Church.

“The food's really good!”

An expected crowd of 700 people packed into St. Michael's Youth Center for food and friends.

Cadence Youngberg/Event Co-Chair: “It was packed for a while... the first crew came in and we had lots and lots of people.”

The dinner was open to anyone who may be alone on Christmas or just looking for a warm meal.

Eunice Kulvik/enjoying Christmas eve dinner: “I just like to come. It's really nice. You get a free meal of course, and it's fun for the kids.”

More than 150 volunteers served, poured, and scooped up a good time.

Cadence: “It's just wonderful to see all these people. It's especially nice to see all the volunteers that give up their day to come help.”

Eunice: “They're wonderful people. All the volunteers... wow, I'm impressed. They do a good job.”

All the food was either donated or bought with charitable contributions. Volunteers cooked 53 turkeys. One anonymous family donated more than 60 pies to make people's christmas a little brighter.

Cadence: “They need this. They need to be with people on Christmas because a lot of them don't have anyone to share Christmas with.”

The crowd was entertained by singers, instrumentalists, and a special visit from Santa. In Grand Forks,.

Volunteer drivers delivered about 250 take-out meals. All leftover food was given to the Mission.
