While the Fighting Sioux women's hockey team swept Bemidji State this past weekend, they also swept up a local recruit.

Crookston head coach Tim Persson confirms that his senior center Shannon Kaiser has committed to play for UND. Kaiser is the team's leading scorer with 33 points in 18 games this season.

The Crookston Times reports that Kaiser visited UND on Sunday and took in a women's hockey game. Kaiser afterward verbally committed to playing on the team.

"I went to the game and after that I met with the coaches and they brought me to their office," said Kaiser. "We talked about school, other sports I was in, my family and then we got down to it. I asked questions about the school and asked about redshirting. Then I asked them when they might be giving me an offer. The coaches looked at each other, made me the offer and I took it."
