BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Three measures aimed at keeping the University of North Dakota's Fighting Sioux nickname will get their hearing in the Legislature next week.

The House Education Committee will review all three bills at 9 a.m. Wednesday.

Mandan Rep. RaeAnn Kelsch is the committee's chairwoman. She says the hearing will be held in the Capitol's Brynhild Haugland Room. It is the largest hearing room in the Capitol's west wing.

One bill would require UND to keep the Fighting Sioux nickname, and says Attorney General Wayne Stenehjem would have to consider suing the NCAA if there's a penalty for keeping the name.

The other two measures say UND must keep the name unless members of the Standing Rock Sioux tribe vote to deny permission to use it.
