Rolette County may soon be getting a wind farm. It would be northeast of the city of Rolla.
Sequoia Energy of Winnipeg is proposing the wind farm, which would add 10 to 12 permanent jobs. The wind farm would have between 63 and 66 turbines and would generate 150 megawatts of electricity. If it's approved, construction could start in June of 2010 and take about 18 months.
The North Dakota Public Service Commission held a hearing in Rolla this week on the project.
George Youngerman: "We had excellent attendance at it and full discussion on the project and as a result of that we hope to get a response back from [The Public Service Commission]."
The Public Service Commission is expected to decide whether to approve the project by January 1, 2010.
