MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - The Minnesota Health Department reports the number of serious medical mistakes in Minnesota hospitals held steady last year, which disappointed some experts.

The department's Diane Rydrych says the state's hospitals and surgical centers should be doing more to keep driving down the number of mistakes.

The department's annual report released Thursday says there were 305 mistakes from October 2009 to October 2010, compared with 301 the year before. Ten people died.

As in past years, falls and bedsores accounted for most of the problems.

The president of the Minnesota Hospital Association, Lawrence Massa, says he's also disappointed the number of mistakes didn't drop.
