Man Charged After Accidentally Shooting Self in Finger

A Grand Forks man who accidentally shot his hand early Thursday morning was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits. Police says Darwin Ellingson was cleaning up around his home when his handgun went off.

A Grand Forks man who accidentally shot his hand early Thursday morning was cited for discharging a firearm within city limits.

Police says Darwin Ellingson was cleaning up around his home at 424 Seward Avenue.

He moved a .22 caliber handgun and it went off.

The bullet traveled through the knuckle of a finger on his left hand.

A friend took him to the hospital for medical attention.
