Travel Difficult in Much of ND Early Monday

Strong winds early Monday made travel difficult across much of North Dakota.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — Strong winds early Monday made travel difficult across much of North Dakota.

The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory statewide, as wind gusts surpassed 35 mph and caused blowing and drifting snow. State Transportation officials told motorists to use caution while traveling.

Travel in southwest North Dakota wasn't advised at all, and law enforcement reported that some roads in western and central North Dakota were blocked. The Ward County Sheriff's Office closed one county road after about 20 vehicles including a school bus became stuck.

North Dakota residents are getting a break from recent subzero temperatures, however. Forecasters say temperatures should climb into the 30s in some areas this week.
