UPDATE: DL Man Arrested For Luring Was School Computer Technician

Fargo police arrested a man in Devils Lake on Tuesday following a months-long investigation into luring by computer. Allan Vetsch, 40, had been the Regional Technician for the Northeast Education Services Cooperative and Technology Learning Cooperative. He resigned Wednesday. School officials say they don't believe Vetsch had any contact with any students in any of the schools in the region.

Fargo police arrested a man in Devils Lake on Tuesday following a months-long investigation into luring by computer in which a detective posed online as a juvenile female, Sgt. Mark Lykken said.

Allan Richard Vetsch, 40, of Devils Lake, was arrested during a traffic stop there after Fargo police got a warrant for his arrest, Lykken said.

Vetsch is accused of luring a minor by computer or other electronic means, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

Vetsch had been the Regional Technician for the Northeast Education Services Cooperative and Technology Learning Cooperative, working as a computer technician for about 20 Devils Lake area schools. He resigned Wednesday. Northeast Education Services Cooperative member schools are cooperating with the investigation and say to their knowledge Vetsch did not have any contact with any students in any of the schools. They say his involvement was strictly with adults when he was in the buildings.

He was taken to the Lake Region Correctional Facility in Devils Lake and was transferred to Cass County.

The Fargo Police Department launched the investigation in June as part of its membership in the state's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Lykken said.
