MAHNOMEN, Minn. (AP) — The Mahnomen County Sheriff's Office says a 31-year-old man from Sartell was killed after two snowmobiles collided on a frozen lake.
The sheriff's news release says Christopher Ebensteiner was at the front of a group of snowmobilers crossing South Twin Lake in eastern Mahnomen County just before 6 p.m. Saturday. Ebensteiner struck a snow ridge and apparently tried to warn oncoming riders about it, but one of the other snowmobiles struck him and his machine.
Emergency responders pronounced Ebensteiner dead at the scene. A 30-year-old from West Fargo was treated at a Fargo hospital for injuries described as not life-threatening.
