A restaurant in Grand Forks known for its sloppy joes, onion rings and root beer may soon be on the National Register of Historic Places.

"The Kegs" restaurant, at 901 N. 5th street, has been an institution in Grand Forks since the 1930s and now a public hearing will be held regarding its nomination to the register.

The Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission is holding the meeting Tuesday, February 8th at 6:30 p.m. in room A101 at the Grand Forks City Hall, 255 N. 4th Street.

Properties that earn a place on the register can qualify for tax incentives.
