Some Lake Region students are being praised by lawmakers after they testified before the state legislature in Bismarck.
Not only did the students from Central Middle School in Devils Lake tour the North Dakota Capitol Building, but also some of them even testified in favor of a bullying bill.
Student Neil Haahr sent a letter to legislators about how bullying should be illegal and punishable by law.
Haahr circulated a petition to gain support for House Bill 1465 and gathered 263 signatures.
He then wrote testimony to present to the legislators.
The trip student council members of Central Middle School took taught them about more than just bullying.
Jake Wateland is the Student Council Advisor.
"Just to go down and see how our legislature works and then to see that process and for them to be apart of it was a great experience for them," Wateland said.
