PLYMOUTH, Minn. (AP) — Firefighters have brought a five-alarm fire under control at a large apartment complex in Plymouth.

It took more than three hours for firefighters to control the blaze at the Plymouth Oaks apartment building. The fire was reported just after 4:30 p.m. Monday and brought under control at 7:50 p.m.

KSTP-TV reports flames shot from the top of the building.

Deputy Plymouth Fire Chief Kip Springer tells WCCO-AM authorities believe everyone in the burning section of the building got out safely. Springer says authorities believe the fire started on the third floor but it's too early to say how it started.

The Star Tribune reports one firefighter and two residents were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Scores of people were evacuated, and the roof collapsed over a third-floor apartment.
