Both GFAFB Schools to Remain Open, Despite Low Enrollment

Larry Nybladh of Grand Forks Public Schools told the school board Monday night that both Air Force Base schools will remain open because more students are expected to come to the base with the new UAV mission.

Both schools at the Grand Forks Air Force Base will stay open despite declining enrollment.

That's what superintendent Larry Nybladh of Grand Forks Public Schools told the school board Monday night.

Nybladh told the board why both schools would stay open, even though there are only 275 students at the schools.

A few weeks ago, the Air Force Base school board voted to keep both schools open.

It earlier agreed that if there were fewer than 300 students, one of the schools should close.

Nybladh says they are keeping both schools open because more students are expected to come to the base with the new UAV mission.

165 students are expected within the next year.
