After a week of relatively warmer weather, with temperatures in the 20's, the end of January puts Grand Forks back into the deep freeze.
People in the area say it is hard getting used to weather like we saw for the start of the week, especially after last week felt like a "heat wave" in comparison.
The last day of January was six degrees with 20 mile-per-hour winds, with the evening bringing the area to negative 30 degrees.
Some people said they are doing their best to deal with it.
"I'm using the warmth of the coffee to heat up my hands and then all the warmth from the coffee is gone, so I had to dump it out and get another cup," said Laureen Seay, as she clutched her steaming cup of coffee.
Another woman took a very conventional approach.
"Down is in my mittens, my coat, long johns and Uggs for my boots. Definitely a necessity in North Dakota," said Louise Anvarina.
According to storm tracker meteorologist John Wheeler, it could warm up, a little, by Thursday.
